A reminder there are now new timetables in and around Plymouth.
Hello everyone.
There are now new bus timetables in and around Plymouth. More information is available on this blog and Plymouth Citybus, Go Cornwall and Stagecoach South West.
Saturday, 3 September 2022
Good evening everyone
Here is some news from Plymouth Citybus
From 4th September we will be making changes to some of our routes. We apologise for the late notice on these changes. We have published them as quick as we could.
Some will see significant changes, while others will be retimed to improve the punctuality of those services.
We have added significant running times to journeys which serve Derriford Hospital in the peak periods, with most journeys starting earlier to accommodate this. Because of these changes, there will be a knock-on effect to other journeys/routes across the city, as buses and drivers do not necessarily stick to one route.
New timetables are now uploaded to this site and can be found here as a preview.
To view the new times, you will need to pick 05/09/2022 from the date picker and then click update to view the Monday to Friday Timetables.
To view Saturday or Sunday, choose the 10th or 11th September.
By Thursday 1st September there will be a new network map and individual PDF’s of each timetable available on our website. Printed copies of Timetables will be available from our Travel Centre from 12th September.

And Go Cornwall bus
The bus network in Cornwall, along with all other bus networks in England have been reviewed in partnership between operators and local authorities. From Sunday 4th September there will be some changes to buses in Cornwall run by Go Cornwall Bus, as we build a stable network fit for the future.
Covid-19 impacted all public transport, including buses, and Central Government funding has enabled the majority of bus services to be kept in place. However, this funding has now been confirmed as coming to an end in Autumn 2022.
People aren’t using the buses in the same way as they did before the pandemic, and so we’re revising which services are financially viable to make sure we can continue running bus services in the future.
All the journeys passengers make are analysed, so we can be sure we’re putting buses on the routes to suit the greatest number of people we can – this means that some routes will be running more frequently, while others will be reduced. All changes have been made based on evidence of passenger use.
There are some routes which although have seen growth in passenger are still not generating enough money to run them at the current frequency. We have agreed to these some routes more time to grow passenger numbers and revenue. These routes are:
- Service 21 from St Austell to Newquay
- Service 22 between Truro, St Dennis and St Austell
- Service 25 between Fowey, St Austell and Newquay
- Service 26 from Bodmin to St Austell
These routes will be reviewed again in January 2023, and may need to be revised if the number of passengers does not increase.
The local services around Redruth and Cambourne have been reworked with new route numbers being introduced. Frogpool will no longer have a direct link to Redruth, but Stitians will gain an increased frequency. The section of route between St Day and Truro will be reduced to two hourly. All other destinations are still served to the same level as today.
A list of all the changes is below:
1 Penzance to Sennen Cove | All journeys operated by Go Cornwall Bus will be withdrawn and operated by Cornwall by Kernow |

Timetable changes around Plymouth this weekend Part 1: Stagecoach South West
Hello everyone
Here are some timetable changes from Stagecoach South West (copied from their website)
Timetable changes across from 4 September 2022.
New timetables are confirmed for the Plymouth bus network, following changes in travel patterns post the Covid-19 pandemic. Many timetables remain unchanged, and the majority of those with changes are minor, whilst route 1 is redesigned to increase the frequency of buses from Mutley Plain.
The review is part of plans to offer a more sustainable bus network to attract greater passenger numbers over the long term. Focus remains on maintaining vital journeys and connections and to provide a network that best meets the changing needs of the communities we serve.
In addition to the review of the Plymouth network some minor changes also occur to Service 2, 9/9A, 88/88A/88C, 985 on the 4th September and Service UNI on 19th September.
New timetables will be available shortly.
Service 1 (Plymouth to Tavistock via Derriford)
There are a number of changes to the timetable of Service 1, which includes combining the timetables of routes 1 and 101, with all journeys following one consistent route.
All journeys on Service 1 will operate via Mutley Plain.
Monday to Saturday, a 20 minute frequency will operate the full route between Tavistock and Plymouth and will be supplemented by additional journeys every 20 minutes between George Park and Ride and Plymouth, providing a combined and coordinated 10 minute frequency. Passengers boarding at Mutley Plain will see two additional buses per hour with the current frequency being 15 minutes.
On Sunday and Public Holidays, a 60 minute frequency will operate between Plymouth and Tavistock approximately 0700 and 1900.
A small number of journeys will be withdrawn, especially during the early morning on a Saturday and evenings on a Saturday and Sunday and Public Holidays.
Service 2/2A (Saltash to Mount Batten (2) or Sherford (2A) via City Centre)
While the route and frequency of buses remains unchanged, there are minor changes to the timetable, customers should check the new timetable before travelling.
Service 36 (City Centre to City College via Railway Station)
Following a re-tendering exercise by City College Plymouth, Service 36 will no longer be operated by Stagecoach. Please contact City College Plymouth for details of any alternative service.
Service X38 (Exeter - Plymouth via Totnes)
There are some minor changes to improve reliability and punctuality, as well as improving co-ordination with Service GOLD.
Some journeys are amended to facilitate demand for travel to and from Ivybridge Community College. Two additional journeys will operate on Sunday and Public Holidays, which improves journey opportunities.
Service 87 (Tavistock via Bere Ferrers and Bere Alston)
Minor change to afternoon journey to reflect changes to school times for the new academic year.
Service 101 (City Centre to George Junction Park and Ride)
Service 101 will be replaced by additional journeys on Service 1, which will provide up to six departures per hours between the City Centre and George Junction Park and Ride via Derriford Hospital.
Service GOLD (Plymouth to Torquay via Totnes and Paignton)
There are a number of changes to the route and timetable of Service GOLD, which are designed to better reflect passenger demand and secure the longer term commercial viability of the service.
The section of route between Paignton and Torquay will be withdrawn, however, passengers can transfer onto Services 12 and 22 (up to 9 departures per hour) at Paignton Bus Station for onward travel.
The route will be amended in Totnes to no longer serve Westonfields, which will speed up journey times and address complaints regarding large vehicles passing along this section of route. Service 88 will provide an alternative.
A small number of journeys at the start and end of the day, especially at weekends, will be withdrawn due to low passenger demand.
The timetable has also been designed to improve co-ordination with Service X38 where possible.
New services
Working in partnership with Babcock, new Service DY1 will provide a direct service between Plympton, Coypool and Milehouse to the dockyard, serving Albert Gate, St Levan Gate and Camels Head. Three journeys will operate in each direction Monday to Friday, with departure times designed to accommodate shift patterns at the dockyard.
Service LAU-013
Stagecoach will commence operating Cornwall Council school transport contract LAU-013 between Five Lanes Bus Shelter and Launceston College.
Service LOOE-78
Stagecoach will commence operating Cornwall Council school transport contract LOOE-78 between Lanreath and Looe Academy.
Minor changes in other areas:
Service 2 (Exeter – Newton Abbot via Dawlish)
1432 Monday to Friday departure from Newton Abbot will depart 15 minutes later at 1447 to accommodate Dawlish Community College.
Service 9/9A (Exeter – Honiton / Seaton)
0815 Monday to Friday Service 9 will depart 10 minutes earlier from Honiton as far as Sidmouth and will then resume current times.
0759 Saturday Service 9 will depart 30 minutes earlier from Sidmouth.
0835 Saturday Service 9 will depart 30 minutes earlier from Honiton.
Service 88/88A/88C (Newton Abbot – Totnes)
The route of Service 88 will be amended to additionally serve Westonfields in Totnes in an anticlockwise direction, as this will no longer be served by Service GOLD.
This change follows complaints regarding double decker vehicles struggling to pass each other in Westonfields.
Service 88C will additionally serve Westonfields to provide a direct link to and from South Devon College.
Service 985 (Redhills – St James School)
As a result of changes to the school day the PM departure time revised to be 1510, with the exception of Tuesday at 1610.
If the route is not listed above, then there will be no changes to the current timetable
Please come back tomorrow for more information
