Buses around Plymouth Predictions 2016 Recap

Good evening everyone

Here is a recap of my predictions for 2016

Let's see how I did

Bus Companies:
Plymouth Citybus
- Seeing two B7RLEs (108 & 109) and some more Darts enter the swoops livery
108 did, 109 didn't and the two second hand Darts (53 & 54 did) (info from Plymothian Transit fleetlist)
- Some more buses (new or second hand) enter the fleet and maybe even some ADL Enviro 200MMC/400MMCs. If there are any more second hand buses, I predict they will be around 5-7 years old.
Yes some did but they were MAN Ecocitys which are 3.5-4 years old
Stagecoach South West
- A greater presence in Plymouth
No not really
- ADL Enviro 400MMCs for the Gold and X38 (whether they'd be ones that are already in the fleet or new ones)
There have been ADL Enviro 400MMCs which have been seen on the X38
- Another 'Gold' route but this time within Plymouth
Nope

Target Travel
- Possibility on taking on at least 1 new route
They've got the 223 now so yes that point is true
- Hopefully some more buses, I wouldn't mind seeing some newer ADL Enviro 200s and Optare Solos
Three newer Optare Solos have entered the fleet; two 08 regs and an 09 one
Other buses include a Wright Meridian for the PR3 (an 08 reg)
Other Independents
- Jacketts Coaches: The 13 won't be operated by them at the end of the year.
I was incorrect as is still operated by them
- Tally Ho & Countrybus: No real difference
Yep

And other predictions

New coach station
- Should hopefully be around by end of the year
It is, it opened in September

The train station
- Hopefully at least some plans of what a refurbished station should look like
That too

Buses around Plymouth
- More photos and presence at various bus related events around Plymouth
Yes that is right

Prediction for 2017 coming soon

Buses Around Plymouth - the Christmas day post of 2016

Merry Christmas everyone.

Welcome to the Christmas Day post of 2016

Although it isn't a white christmas we have had some white christmases in the past few years as the photos below show.

All these photos courtesy of Graham Richardson of Plymothian Transit.

Also, thankyou very much loyal readers for using this year to read this blog. It has been interesting to see what has happened regarding the buses in the past twelve months covered with a post every day since January 1 2016 (when the posts started)

Firstly, regarding the main bus operators, Stagecoach bought brand new buses earlier in January and they also launched the South West Falcon from Plymouth to Bristol. Plymouth Citybus have introduced more buses for the Green Flash, Go Cornwall and other buses in the usual swoops livery as well as second-hand MAN Ecocitys, some of which are on the Orange Flash. And for Target Travel, they have introduced quite a lot of newer buses to replace older ones as well.

It is not just bus companies I would like to talk about but charitable organisations such as the PCTPG who have organised some really good events such as the Bus Running Day 2016 (the second one I have been to now) which was really enjoyable since there was a huge variety of buses which very the old Leylands to the new ADL Enviro 400s. I would like to thank Ralph and the team for putting on these events and I hope the PCTPG keeps up with the good work for 2017 and beyond.

Also, tommorow there are no scheduled bus services except for a Boxing Day timetable for the Stagecoach South West routes 1 and 2 (https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/south-west/christmas-and-new-year-bus-services) - look under Boxing Day timetables

Once again have a Merry Christmas everyone and there will be a post tommorow night.

Bus News Around Plymouth 037

Good evening everyone

Here is a news update from the Plymouth Citybus website
(https://www.plymouthbus.co.uk/news-service-updates/network-change-2nd-and-9th-january-2017/)

Plymouth Citybus Network Changes for Monday 2nd January and Monday 9th January 2017
-
Service 43 Orange Flash
New branding ans revised frequency: City Centre to Ernesettle will see the introduction of 5 MAN Gas buses to the route and will become the newest flash brand to Plymouth. Along with the new buses the route will see an amended timetable with buses departing every 15 minutes. Along with the Yellow Flash this will provide a frequency every 7/8 minutes from Victoria Road to City Centre.
-
Service 70/71
Due to an additional school contract being awarded to Citybus in the Rame area we have had to make some minor adjustments to our timetable in the Morning and Afternoon. Although this will have minimal impact on the timetable, the most notable change will see the 07:40 departure from Insworke (08:20 from HMS Raleigh) now serve Union Street on its way into the City Centre. This Journey will not serve the Railway Station.
The Journey that is due to run through Stoke Village at 08:52 arriving on Royal Parade at 09:07 will still be served using an alternative vehicle starting from Pottery Quay.
-
Service 72/73 A387 Road Closure 8th January to 13th April 2017
Due to the road closure above the service 73 will have a revised timetable between the above dates. This will also include a diversion from Sandplace via Morval and Widegates before arriving in Looe. The 72 will also see the removal of the Sunday service but this will be covered by the 73 revised Sunday Timetable during this road closure.
