Good evening everyone
I just wanted to make you aware of a news article in the Plymouth Herald yesterday
Land train takes to streets of Plymouth for first time
Did you spot this cruising around Plymouth city centre this morning? (That being yesterday)
A new land train has taken to our roads for the first time ahead of a commercial operation beginning at Easter.
PR company iMarvel shared pictures of the train on our roads this morning.
Plymouth briefly saw a landtrain project in 2005, but the scheme never took off.
Plymouth resident Graham Pearce announced in November he is setting up a land train which will carry up to 38 people with two carriages.
According to Mr Pearce, service is set to commence on the land train this nmonth.
Other areas around Devon and Cornwall such as Torquay, Exmouth and Newquay have land trains, making them a great tourist attraction which allows both residents and tourists to see the most of the landscape in these popular areas.
Plymouth briefly saw a land train come to the city in 2005 which was short lived, with many odds falling against the £210,000, 58-seater vehicle which eventually fizzled out three years later.
Taxifast mogul John Preece intended to run the land train around the city centre, Hoe and Barbican as a tourist attraction.
But he and the city council reached a Catch-22 impasse when the authority said he had to submit a route before he could run the triple-carriage vehicle and he argued he could not do so without testing it on the streets.
Further to the debacle the 20-metre vehicle lost its fuel supplier, meaning putting the 4.5-tonne engine on to a low loader once every two days and taking it away, for about an hour.
Three years later in 2008 the land train was scrapped due to it never having carried fee-paying passengers.
Mr Preece unveiled that he had an 'interested buyer' but no more was heard about the land train after this.
On 21st November, the Plymouth Landtrain Facebook put up a statement saying: "After a long while and a lot of searching I am really proud to announce that Plymouth land train is coming.
"Please support me in this new venture. With best wishes, Graham Pearce."
Dean Seddon from iMarvel confirmed that the land train was ready to hit the streets of Plymouth from Easter.
He said: "It has been a lot of work but the Land Train Project is ready to roll.
"We will be raising some sponsorship support to kick the Land Train off. One of the exciting developments will be the live tracker of the Land Train which will help people see when the train will arrive at their stop."
Te added: "The whole team are excited. We took some families out on a test route and we were swamped with children wanting to ride the train. Its fun for the families on the City but also a nice connection for visitors to Plymouth to see the sites and amazing places to visit in Plymouth."
