Buses Outside Plymouth Week
Bristol
Blog post from: http://www.swhite.org.uk/steve/jan.htm
Good evening everyone
Here is the first of seven blog posts detailing the bus scene around the UK at the moment.
First of these is is Bristol, which is not too far from Plymouth (well, at least compared to what's coming up later in the week):
The first Virtual Electric Enviro 39191 was shown to the public recently. Its built to London spec so seats 64 (39up 25down) its dual doored so the wheelchair ramp is on the middle door so i guess this will be the only time when the middle door is in use. There are 2 charging plates to recharge the batteries 1 at UWE the other at Hengrove Depot a 7 minute charge during layover should give enough power for 20 minutes of driving on battery power. The bus uses GPS to switch the engine off when it enters certain parts of the city to reduce emissions so its Electric around town and on Gloucester Road its due to enter service latter next month.
